At FCVERH we offer medical based acupuncture for animals. With multiple doctors on staff that offer this treatment modality, we have animal acupuncture available for both our rehabilitation and emergency patients. Animal acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for easing pain and comforting your loved one while they heal.
Medical acupuncture is the use of acupuncture treatments to help patients recover from injury and illness. Acupuncture is the application of slim, sterile needles to specific points, leading to improved comfort and function of specific muscles, organs and nerves.
Many of our rehabilitation appointments combine the use of many physical medicine modalities, including acupuncture, because it leads to improved comfort and quicker return to function.
Animal acupuncture can be used for:
- -Muscular spasm or pain
- Soft tissue injury
- -Back pain
- -Neck pain
- -Post-operative recovery
- -Orthopedic injury such as hip dysplasia, knee injuries, shoulder pain, elbow dysplasia and many others
Keep in mind; acupuncture for animals can also help with illness, such as:
- -Kidney disease
- -Nausea or decreased appetite
- -Eye issues such as dry eye, glaucoma and others
- -Auto-immune disease
Acupuncture is remarkably well tolerated by animals, even sensitive dogs and cats (rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and other creatures tolerate it well!). Once they learn they are coming in for acupuncture, you’ll notice them getting excited every time you pull into the parking lot!
If you have additional questions about medical based acupuncture for animals, or if you’re wondering if your pet may benefit, please don’t hesitate to give use a call. Our rehab team can help field questions and get your pet scheduled for an appointment.
