    Can dogs smile? I am not sure, but Toby, a 4-year-old terrier-street dog mix, was grinning at me from inside his cage. This, despite having a shattered back leg and an abdomen full of blood. Maybe it was the pain meds, but this was one tough dog. Toby was another HBC (hit-by-car) case that unfortunately got in the way of a high-speed, heavy projectile, better known as a moving car.
